Aurora

Aurora Aksnes was born 15 June 1996 in Stavanger Norway. Professionally known as Aurora and sometimes stylized with uppercase letters as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, released in May 2015 by Decca Records to great approval of music bloggers and the media. She has previously recorded two highly-regarded covers Half the World Away by Oasis. Oasis in a commercial for Christmas from John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. She gained some further recognition thanks to a Facebook post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. Make it a special day for her. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding the piano she had in her attic and becoming fascinated by the sound it could make. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a career or hobby but to grow. Therefore, she created her own compositions. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. She decided to start performing her music in public when her mother suggested that it could aid people in to not become famous through the work she does, but to help people see around them realize their own importance and how they can affect the world. She started playing piano when she was just six and started writing songs when she was nine. It wasn't until she was 14 when she shared her story with her parents. There was no way she could have imagined to be Aurora. She says she just likes to compose songs. For her, music is the best method to communicate anything.
